The Fear of Rejection in Protection Applications
Navigating the world of insurance can be daunting, especially when the fear of rejection looms large for many applicants. According to a recent survey of 1000 people, by LifeSearch[1], a significant number of UK adults stop or avoid protection applications due to concerns about rejection tied to mental health issues. Alarmingly, this affects one in 10 UK adults stop or avoid protection applications due to concerns about rejection tied to mental health issues, with the percentage rising to 16% among 25-34-year-olds and 18% among those aged 35-44. These figures highlight a crucial challenge at life stages where securing protection becomes particularly important.
In addition to mental health concerns, other factors contribute to this hesitation. Distrust towards providers and confusion about who to approach deter 11% of potential applicants. Age-related worries impact 13%, while 8% are hesitant due to pre-existing physical health conditions. Despite these barriers, there is a silver lining: 48% of respondents reported no deterrents and many individuals are willing to pursue protection to protect their families should the worst happen.” Or words to that effect.
