Intro to Aegon

Established in 1831 as Scottish Equitable, known as AEGON Scottish Equitable in 2006 and AEGON from 2009. AEGON offers retirement, savings and protection solutions to around three million UK customers and employ more than 3,000 staff in their Life Insurance division.

They are now a multi-national business that incorporates Life Insurance, pensions and asset management and their headquarters are based in The Hague, Netherlands. Worldwide, AEGON employs around 28,000 people and have over 30 million customers.

AEGON historically sponsored the Dutch football team, AFC Ajax, and have also sponsored the Lawn Tennis Association, British Tennis and their American wing Transamerica sponsor American golfer Zach Johnson.
AEGON signed up to The Protection Distributors Group (PDG) Claim Charter, reinforcing their dedication to delivering the highest standards throughout the claim experience.

In April 2023 it was announced that AEGON’s UK Life Insurance, Critical Illness and Income Protection business would be sold to Royal London.

AEGON offer an additional benefit to its customers known as Policy Plus.

Policy Plus offers a range of support services for no additional cost for customers and their immediate family. These services are available throughout the life of the customer’s policy and include a second opinion medical opinion service, health and wellbeing service and a funeral payment pledge (advance payment of up to £10,000) when there are delays due to probate.
