Does life insurance pay out if I have a heart attack?

According to the British Heart Foundation, in the UK there are more than 100,000 hospital admissions each year due to heart attacks: that’s one every five minutes.

If you were to pass away due to a heart attack your life insurance policy should pay out.

Many people who survive a heart attack find that they are not able to return to full-time work, and therefore struggle with income and managing their finances. If you are interested in protecting your finances in the case of surviving a heart attack, you could also consider Critical Illness Cover. This is designed to pay out a lump sum of money to you on diagnosis of a wide variety of illnesses.

Heart attacks are almost always included within Critical Illness Cover, although the severity may determine whether a payout is due.
