AIG, or the American International Group, were founded in 1919, however, the roots of the UK branch date back to 1824. Beginning in Belgium in 1824 and operating in the UK since 1939 the branch rebranded to Fortis in the year 2000 and from 2010 as Ageas. In 2015 Ageas became a part of AIG who have been in operation for over 100 years.

They are now a multi-national finance and insurance corporation who operate in over 70 countries, employ upwards of 45,000 people and have around 8 million life insurance customers.

Their headquarters are based in New York City but they have offices located in many countries across the globe.
