Does life insurance pay out if I have a heart attack?
In the UK there are more than 100,000 hospital admissions each year due to heart attacks: that’s one every five minutes.
If you were to pass away due to a heart attack your life insurance policy would pay out.
Most life insurance policies also have the option to pay out on diagnosis of a terminal illness. Depending on the severity, this may include a heart attack or heart issues.
It’s always best to check your policy documentation or ask our life insurance consultants whilst going through your application, as some insurers will be different from others.
Alternatively, you can also opt for Critical Illness Cover – this is a type of insurance which will payout on diagnosis of a wide variety of illnesses as stipulated by the terms of the cover. Heart attacks are almost always included within Critical Illness Cover, although the severity may determine whether a payout is due.
